UltraFileSearch Lite quickly finds files, folders and text on your local, network, or external media. The program allows you to specify several file masks and drives/folders at the same time; it is able to sort them according to their properties (e.g. modified date) and find files that contain one or more specific words or sentences.
This utility does not use background indexing.
NOTE: The shareware version has additional features.

Web site download page version 7.0.0.24197 portable "lite" is freeware for personal use. Some "Pro" features missing per comparision chart.

UltraFileSearch Standard V.5.4.0.19067 has been released at March 2019.
It's shareware (30 days) and it's name is UFS Standard.
On download page https://www.ultrafilesearch.com/download.html there are only Standard versions.

No mention of the portable standard edition?
We should encourage all portable developers, this is even more important in an age of server apps which are little better than shortcuts or are worse.
Yes it is a portable payware version but a mention should be okay?
Something like "Alternatively a portable payware edition gives full standard features and can be used in business and for profit environ"

At first, this program seems to be OK. BUT LOOKING AT THE PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE, it is unsatisfactory. When searching for text in a file, it only shows only the file name, and not a preview of the text found. I agree with Lyon11111, AgentRansack is far superior to this program.

THIS one is a keeper! It detects my storage HDD whereas the other app I tried doesn't. (UltraSearch)
@Lyon11111 - I looked at AgentRansack. It hasn't been updated since March of 2010, and it isn't portable. Pass.

I love it.
Yes, I like Windows 7 Search when it looks for something in My outlook mail or my web history.
But If I am just looking for a file or files with wildcard / date modified / size -- just like Windows XP used to do, ultrafilesearch does it very well, and shows me what folder it is in.
This standalone executable stays on my flash drives and on all of my PCs

Re-downloaded the zip file, and the contents (exe file) are different now from the first one I downloaded. Now it no longer creates anything in the "My Documents" folder, and several ini files have been created in the app's folder for its settings. MUCH BETTER. I'm not quite sure how the original zip I downloaded had the wrong exe in it...

Are you sure you're downloading the portable version? It does create that Exports folder, but not in My Documents and alongside ULTRAFILESARCH.exe . You're doing something wrong.

It seems to always create a "\UltraFileSearch\Exports" folder in "My Documents". The folder is empty, but this isn't exactly what I'd consider stealth.
